Bill Murray Gets His Own Holiday

August 21, 2014

Canada is a great place to be: the people are nice, the food is good, and the political climate is stable.

Now, in addition to having some of the coolest looking law-enforcement officers around (Mounties!), Canada ups the ante with possibly the greatest holiday ever.

The Toronto International Film Festival has officially declared September 5th to be Bill Murray Day.

In order to pay homage to the legendary actor and comedian, Bill Murray Day will offer a full day of free screenings of some of the star’s biggest blockbusters, like Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day.

Also, fans who attend the screenings will also be eligible to win a ticket to the world premiere of Murray’s new comedy, St. Vincent, which also stars Chris O’Dowd, Naomi Watts and Melissa McCarthy.

The films will play from 10 am to 6 pm at the TIFF Bell Lightbox, with free tickets available for pickup from 8 am.
