Keanu Reeves’ Ten best movies ranked in order of awesomeness

January 6, 2014

Keanu Reeves has done a lot of hollywood movies. Here we rank them in order of awesomeness. Tell us if you agree in the comments.

1. The Matrix

It all has to begin and end with the techno-thriller that set the standard for all other action movies to come.

Who else besides Reeves could play such a delicate balance between action hero and philosopher?

2. Hardball

Reeves plays a degenerate gambler who’s in debt to the wrong people, and as part of his community service, he agrees to coach a team of youth baseball players from Chicago’s inner city projects.

This movie often gets lost in the discussion of Reeves best roles, but the way he bonds with the kids and helps them deal with tragedy gives us a movie everyone can learn from.

3. The Day the Earth Stood Still

In this remake of the old sci-fi classic, Reeves plays an alien ambassador who has come to save the world – from us.

In an action movie with a very noticeable environmental slant, Reeves manages to entertain and inform at the same time.

4. Speed

In one of his first big action roles, Reeves doesn’t disappoint beside Sandra Bullock as a guy trying to disable a bomb on a speeding bus.

This one has become an instant classic, a template for what action movies should be, and Reeves shows us what acting looks like.

5. The Devil’s Advocate

Part courtroom drama, part philosophical commentary, Reeves plays a lawyer who works for Al Pacino, who turns out to be the devil.

There is a lot of dark humor in this film, and Reeves plays the role of the straight man to Pacino’s endless debauchery to perfection.

6. Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure

The film that started it all. Featuring time-traveling stoners who kidnap Napoleon, Socrates, Genghis Khan and other major historical features, this film doesn’t try at all to be taken seriously, and neither do the actors, which is what makes it so memorable.

7. The Replacements

During a pro football strike, replacement QB Shane Falco has to deal with crazy teammates, adoring fans, antagonistic pro players on strike, and himself.

Tagged as the guy who can’t win the big one, Reeves’ character finds out that his toughest opponent is himself.

8. Street Kings

This is a movie that never quite got the praise it deserved, but Reeves plays a tough cop who gets on the trail of a corruption scandal within the LAPD that seems to lead all the way to the top.

9. Constantine

Reeves plays an exorcist who is destined for hell, and has to fight against the son of Lucifer, who wants to establish his own domain here on the Earth. Part horror film, part action film, one hundred percent entertaining.

10. The Matrix Reloaded

This movie got smashed by the critics, but in the sequel to The Matrix Reeves and co. provide more than enough action to entertain the viewer for a couple of hours.
