In case you hadn’t heard, Mad Max is making a comeback. It has been 35 years since the original film debuted in theaters and created a cult classic that would spawn more epic action movies.

Now George Miller is back again, and he’s bringing along a new set of friends.

Tom Hardy is set to star as the new Max Rockatanksy, with co-star Charlize Theron prettying up the scene as a diehard commander named Imperator Furiosa. The pair worked together before in Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus”.

George Miller Talked briefly about what we can expect from this latest installment in the Mad Max franchise. He said that people can expect less dialogue in this film and more post-apocalyptic action.

“I wanted to tell a linear story–a chase that starts as the movie begins and continues for 110 minutes,” he says, “In this crucible of very intense action, the characters are revealed.”

“Mad Max” first premiered in 1979 as a low-budget film starring a 23-year-old Mel Gibson. The film cost only $400,000 to make, but ended up earning almost $100 million in the box office.

“Mad Max 2” appeared in theaters 2 years later, with the third film “Mad Max Beyond Thunder Dome” coming out in 1985.
