“Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their second child,” Clarence House said in a statement Monday. “The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news.”
As with her first pregnancy, Kate is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum.
“Her Royal Highness will no longer accompany The Duke of Cambridge on their planned engagement in Oxford today,” per the press release. “The Duchess of Cambridge is being treated by doctors at Kensington Palace.”
Although Kate may be a little indisposed for the foreseeable future, many royals have already gone public with their elation at the news. Prince William’s father, Prince Charles, has said that he is hoping the couple has a girl. Prince Harry, William’s brother, has also stated he wishes the newborn to be a girl as he jokingly relishes how crazy that would drive his older brother.
