Ten Things you didn’t know about Cobie Smulders

January 7, 2014

Here are a few things about Cobie Smulders you might not know.

1. She’s Canadian

That’s right kids, this beautiful girl was born in Vancouver. The British Columbia native got her start in acting by participating in some high school productions, and the rest is history.

2. She’s married

Much to the disdain of male television viewers everywhere, the actress tied the knot with Saturday Night Live actor Taran Killam in 2012.

Killam has also had some small parts in movies like My Best Friend’s Girl, Grown Ups 2, and the recently released 12 Years a Slave.

3. Cobie isn’t her real first name

Acting comes natural to this girl, since she’s been using a fake name most of her life.

Her real name is Jacoba Francisca Maria Smulders, which is a mouthful, and as a result earned the nickname Cobie, which is a lot easier to fit on a business card.

4. She was originally a model

This probably wasn’t hard to figure out, but it turns out that people don’t mind looking at pictures of this girl.

She has said that being a model was something that she hated doing, and that it made it tough to make the transition to acting, since the job is so much more mentally and physically challenging.

5. She’s an athlete

Not content to stick to the stage while in high school, the actress also participated in swimming, tennis, and soccer.

She’s also a certified scuba diver. Is there anything she can’t do? We think not.

6. She has a three year old daughter

Smulders had her first and only child (so far) with then fiancé Taran Killam in 2009. The couple named the baby girl Shaelyn Cado Killam.

7. She was voted “Most Respected” by her high school classmates

Looks like this lovely lady was popular for all the right reasons back in the day. Apparently she’s been lovable since the day she was born.

8. She’s a big fan of donuts

You wouldn’t know it by looking at her, but the actress loves her some donuts.

Upon learning that Tim Horton’s had named a donut after actor Jason Priestly, she jokingly wondered where her “Robin Sparkles” donut was.

9. She’s good looking AND smart

As a young girl, Smulders wanted to be either a doctor or a marine biologist. George Costanza anyone?

10. Her best role is playing herself on television

In addition to so many of her well known fictional roles, she has also guest starred as herself on shows like The Megan Mullally Show, Made in Hollywood, and the hilarious Comedy Bang! Bang! With Scott Aukerman.
